Day at the Airshow

We spent the day at the airshow yesterday. My old boss and her boyfriend tour the airshow circuit in their Japanese Zero replica. We took my sister and brother-in-law as well as my father-in-law out with us to watch, not only their dogfight, but all of it. The Blue Angels were there, as well.

Here we are walking in and Baby watching some flying.

This is their plane as he was taxiing in after flying the dogfight routine. We walked way around the edge of the fenced off area to where they were parked and we laid out blankets and had a picnic while watching a wonderfully unobstructed view of all the flying. There were no crowds over at our end, either. It was lovely, HOT, but lovely.

This was the first plane that we toured. Mimi tried on a parachute while Bubba tried out the navigator’s chair next to her cousin.

The day was wonderful and we got to see lots of planes and talk to their pilots. But, as you can see from Baby with her Grandpa, it was exhausting.

School Supplies

Bubba and I made a quick trip to the store yesterday for some toothbrushes and we noticed that they were replacing the beach towels and homemade snowcone makers with school supplies. Seriously. Two days after the Fourth of July they are putting out the school supplies. It just makes me sad that the summers are so short. We’ve decided not to start up with schooling until after Labor Day because I just don’t see the need to rush summer to an end. Of course, Bubba, being much like I was at that age, was thrilled to see the supplies all stacked neatly in the rows with all of the newest folder designs facing out. She ran her hand down the long line of Elmer’s Glue bottles and started at the rows and rows of crayons, markers, pens and pencils. I promised her that we would make up a list of things we needed for school supplies and come buy them, but not until August. July has only just begun and we’ve got a lot of summer left to play.

Oh, and when we walked by the fabric area for some thread, there was Christmas fabric on display. We just looked at each other and rolled our eyes.

The Simpsons Family

Just for fun I created these Simpson likenesses of our family while the baby napped. They are dead on, let me tell you! I made these at The quality deteriorated quite a bit when I shrunk them through the image insert application on this blog, but you actually get a fairly nice image when you do it at the site.

Fourth of July

We had a lovely Fourth of July week. We spent many evenings with good friends and family eating delicious BBQ, sipping fun summer drinks, and blowing the crap out of anything with a fuse. In fact, by the time the actual holiday came, the kids all ended up inside playing with some friends instead of watching all of our fireworks. I feel really blessed to be in this great area with so many lovely friends around. This is what summer is all about.
